Ben Bronz Art Club Visits Wadsworth Atheneum

Posted on

Students in our new Art Club divided in two groups and were guided through the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art by docents to view various pieces of art throughout the museum by renaissance and modern artists, including Delacroix, van Gogh, Picasso and others.

They were questioned on the elements of art they observed: line, shape, color, balance, how they directed the eye, how they made the viewer feel, etc.

Both groups were complemented by the museum on their eagerness to learn about the art and for their thoughtful questions.

After touring, we all enjoyed lunch outside the museum by the big red sculpture called, “Stegosaurus“ by Hartford artist Alexander Calder.

We then returned to the museum for sketching in the Morgan Great Hall.

This is an amazing space, as seen in the images sent, that has multiple artworks on walls for students to choose for their sources of sketching inspiration.

PS: Help students have the opportunity for future field trips by donating to help us acquire our own school van. https://www.benbronzacademy.org/make-a-donation/
